I AM Challenge A Message from Matt You or someone you know lives in a city threatened by sea level rise. It could be Miami or Mumbai, New York or New Orleans, Shanghai or Santa Monica; more than 150 million Americans and billions more around the world live in or near coastal cities threatened by rising sea levels as a result of climate change. And the time to fight is now. During Climate Week in New York, actor and activist Mark Ruffalo joined me in launching Global Green USA's I AM Fighting Climate Change Challenge. Here is what you can do:
• Watch our I AM PSA with Mark and other friends of GGUSA in entertainment, music, and sports; • Learn more about sea level rise and climate change; • Take our I AM Challenge: Send us your photo with a sign of the coastal city you love, along with a commitment to fight climate change (bonus: you will be entered to win two VIP tickets to our Pre-Oscar party in February!).
Introducing… NOLA Wise Greening More Homes in New Orleans The next big step in our work to green the city of New Orleans: NOLA Wise. We recently introduced this new weatherization program at a press conference with New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. In helping homeowners reduce their utility use by 15% or more and lessen their overall impact on the environment, it is definitely a win-win. Find out more.
Global Green Room Interview Sebastian Copeland We are lucky to work with and meet amazing people making a difference by greening their corners of the world -- and influencing others around them. Now we are introducing some of these individuals to you with our Global Green Room Interview. We ask five questions of green movers and shakers about their work, their challenges, and their hopes for the future. Read Sebastian Copeland's interview to find out what he had to say.
Before & After Photos Green School Transformation A lot of our projects to help green buildings and schools take a considerable amount of time, which makes it especially rewarding when we get to see the final results. The "before" photo here is of a building in East Los Angeles that was a closed Big Lots store -- and now it is a green school. Click through to see the "after" photo of the school and to find out more about our work on green schools.
